One of the great inventions in Western history has been deemed a threat to democracy.
A group of professors from several top academic institutions in North America, Australia and Europe recommend banning Gutenberg’s printing press.
“We, the Academic Association of Boogaloo, are calling for the symbolic cancelling of Johannes Gutenberg’s and his printing press. We have determined the press as the source of all misinformation and therefore a threat to our democracy. We must end it now. It doesn’t help that the first book printed was the Bible,” Professor of Gender Neutral Pregnancy Studies Chic Filament from one of the universities said.
The move has been signed by 11 professors - 1 female, 1 male and 9 otherwise specified genders of a variety pack including one who identifies as ‘Cinnamon and sugar’.
“I know those people. It’s 7 males and 4 females,’ a colleague of a few of the signatories wrote us. “And they each know damn well what their gender is. I’m not surprised by their demand. All pretty much finished at the bottom of their classes” explained Professor of Mathematics Matthew Conrad.
The petition and letter is being presented to various governments at the Climate Change Summit in Egypt.
“What better place to do it? Combatting climate change and misinformation are the twin challenges of our existence,” Filament added.
